What is the HYI Market Rental Process?
HYI does not maintain a wait list for market rentals. Instead, HYI uses a subscriber list to notify interested individuals about available units. Market rent units are in high demand, and vacancies are filled on a first come, first served basis.
The market rent vacancy process is as follows:
- When a market unit is available for rental, an email is sent to individuals on the subscriber list. The email provides information about the available unit such as unit size, building/townhome location, amenities and rental rate
- Subscribers must respond to the email if they are interested. The response must include a completed offer to lease and supporting documentation, such as income verification, a landlord reference (or explanation if no rental history) and consent to a credit check
- HYI will contact the first respondent who submitted a completed offer to lease with all required documentation. Emails without a completed offer to lease or supporting documents will not be considered
- Once the required information is received, a unit viewing appointment is scheduled
- If HYI does not hear back within 48 hours or if the first respondent does not qualify or is no longer interested, HYI will contact the next respondent
- This process is repeated until the vacancy is filled
NOTE: Due to the high level of interest in market rent vacancies, only the first respondent with a completed offer to lease and all required documentation will be contacted.
