Celebrating Seniors Month - Explore and Share Our New Webpage for Seniors
Did you know that by 2051, nearly one in four York Region residents will be over the age of 65?
As we mark Seniors’ Month this June, it’s time to honour the vital role older adults play in building strong, caring and safe communities. With this year’s theme, “Fit, Active and Healthy Seniors,” York Region is proud to support the health and well-being of our aging population.
To help seniors and caregivers stay connected and informed, York Region has launched a new, user-friendly webpage designed to help visitors easily find programs and services in one convenient place.
Whether you're looking for health resources, transportation options, caregiver supports or ways to stay active and connected, this new webpage is here to help. This helpful tool brings together programs and services to support caregivers and older adults, including:
- Long-term Care Homes
- Adult Day Programs
- Mobility On-Request Transit Services 65+
- Accessible Transit Services
- Housing
- Immunization Clinics
- Healthy Aging and Fall Prevention Resources
- Seniors Dental Program
- Support Services for Independent Living
The new webpage supports the goals of the 2024 to 2027 York Region Plan to Support Seniors, which focuses on:
- Helping seniors stay healthier, longer
- Supporting age-friendly, complete communities
- Connecting people to the right services at the right time
- Improving coordination across the system of care
As we celebrate Seniors’ Month, we invite you to explore york.ca/Seniors and share it with the seniors and caregivers in your life. Together, we can build a community where every senior feels valued, supported, and empowered.
