York Region mourns the passing of former Town of Aurora Mayor George Timpson
York Region is saddened to learn of the passing of George Timpson, who served as Mayor of Aurora from 1977 to 1982 and represented the town on York Regional Council during that time. On behalf of York Regional Council, I extend heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
George Timpson’s years of public service, both as Mayor and as a long-serving Councillor, were marked by dedication, integrity and a deep commitment to his community. He played a vital role in shaping the Town of Aurora and contributing to the work of York Region, always focused on listening to the people he served and working collaboratively for the greater good. His leadership and commitment will be remembered and acknowledged for years to come.
