Improvements coming to Teston Road, Cityview Boulevard and Weston Road

Transportation improvements prepare York Region to meet the needs of motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and transit users today and into the future. York Region is improving Teston Road, Cityview Boulevard and Weston Road in the City of Vaughan.

Duration: Spring 2025 to late summer 2025

Description:

  • York Region is removing and replacing asphalt road surface on:
    • Teston Road from Weston Road to Keele Street 
    • Cityview Boulevard from Teston Road to Balda Court
    • Weston Road from south of Kirby Road to south of King-Vaughan Road
  • Intersection improvements on Teston Road at Cityview Boulevard, Mosque Gate/Shipwill Street, Cranston Park Avenue and St. Joan of Arc Avenue
    • Upgrading traffic control signals and lighting; temporary signals will be in place during construction
    • Enhancing audible pedestrian signals and tactile walking surface indicators to alert people with low or no vision of an upcoming intersection
    • Reconstructing crosswalk ramps at signalized and non-signalized intersections
  • Replacing and repairing culverts that allow water to flow freely under Weston Road
  • Installing steel beam guide rails that provide a barrier between the roadway and potentially hazardous situations to ensure they meet current standards while increasing safety for road users

Impacts to travellers:

The roads will remain open to through traffic; however, temporary lane closures are required:

  • For major work, including paving, Monday to Friday nights from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. 
  • For minor work, including culvert replacement and intersection improvements
    • Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. 
  • Access to homes and businesses will be maintained

As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
