York Region Ambulance Finds New Life in Guyana
On Monday, July 14, 2025, York Region Paramedic Services donated a decommissioned ambulance to Voice of the Vedas Global Care Outreach – Guyana Dialysis.

The donation of an ambulance to support dialysis patients in Guyana is a transformative act that goes far beyond generosity - it’s a lifeline. It ensures timely, safe transportation for patients in remote areas, reducing missed treatments and preventing life-threatening complications. This gift promotes health equity and helps ease the emotional and financial burden on families. Most importantly, it sets a powerful example of compassion, inspiring others to take action and support those in need.
Since 2014, York Regional Council has approved the donation of 15 decommissioned ambulances. While these ambulances continue to be well maintained and safe, legislative requirements mean ambulances in York Region are decommissioned from the fleet every five years or 250,000 kilometres. This donation was approved by York Regional Council in 2023.
Donating decommissioned ambulances to this organization enhances their capacity to support communities in need and shows York Region’s ongoing commitment to support local agencies and health care partners.
