Accessible Trail Resurfacing at North Tract Begins

As part of York Region’s commitment to maintaining safe and accessible trails, the accessible trail at North Tract in the York Regional Forest is scheduled to undergo resurfacing beginning in early May and continuing until mid-May. This timeline depends on weather conditions and construction progress. The project will enhance the trail’s durability and improve accessibility for all users, including those with mobility aids.
To ensure public safety, the accessible trail will be temporarily closed during construction. However, the North Tract parking lot and other trails will remain open for visitors. Work will take place during daytime hours, with regular updates provided on our website and social media channels.
Trail resurfacing helps maintain a smooth and stable surface, reducing potential hazards and ensuring a more enjoyable experience for all visitors. This project aligns with York Region’s broader efforts to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities while preserving the natural environment.
Visitors are reminded to respect closure notices and posted signage for their safety. Alternate accessible trails are available at other York Regional Forest locations. Hollidge Tract is the closest at 16389 Highway 48 in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.
