Intersection Improvements coming to the City of Richmond Hill
York Region’s Vision Zero Traveller Safety Plan supports improvements to road safety for motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and transit users today and into the future.
Duration: Construction will occur in the next six months depending on the contractor’s scheduling
Description
York Region is making improvements to the Major Mackenzie Drive and Boake Trail/Shirley Drive intersection in the City of Richmond Hill:
- Rebuilding existing traffic signals and intersection upgrades to meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act requirements
- Installing temporary traffic signals while existing signals are rebuilt
- Installing zebra crosswalk markings to help enhance crosswalk visibility
Impacts to Travellers
- Temporary lane reductions weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Access for emergency vehicles, homes and businesses will be maintained
- Safety is a priority; please slow down through construction areas
As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice where possible. We understand construction creates challenges for the community and we are working to deliver this project with minimal disruption. Thank you for your patience during the construction period.
