Aurora Yonge Street Feedermain - Notice of Water Service Disruption

The Regional Municipality of York is rehabilitating and replacing sections of an aging water feedermain along Yonge Street, from Murray Drive and Edward Street to Ridge Road, in the Town of Aurora. The work will extend the life of the feedermain and makes sure critical water services are continually provided.

Following the successful field test, work to replace sections of the feedermain and install new connections will move forward. To complete this work, we need to temporarily turn off water service to businesses located in the Aurora Village Plaza, at 1 Henderson Drive, Aurora.

When: Monday, April 24, 2023, to Tuesday, April 25, 2023, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Where: Aurora Village Plaza, 1 Henderson Drive, Aurora

What you need to know:

• Before the water is turned off, businesses should plan to have water available to use overnight; we suggest filling large bottles and containers with drinking water and filling sinks and tubs for other water uses; when the water service is restored, turn the cold water taps on for a few minutes to clear any air bubbles
• During the water service interruption, the water supply to business sprinkler systems will be impacted
• To avoid any impact to the business water system during the water service interruption, do not turn on the hot water tap
• The work on the watermain has been planned to be as brief as possible; however, if the water service shut off will be longer than the times noted, York Region staff will contact businesses; we will work to restore water service as soon as possible
• Due to the nature of the work, there will be some construction-related noise and dust from the equipment and trucks, every effort to minimize this will be made

We understand work on the feedermain can be disruptive; thank you for your patience while we complete this vital work. As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other conditions.
