York Region’s Archives Celebrates 10 Years
This year marks a special milestone for York Region’s Archives — its 10th anniversary since establishment! Even though records and artifacts have been collected and preserved for many decades, we are celebrating this exciting milestone of York Region’s rich history with a fresh new look online!
Are you a history buff, researcher or passionate and curious community member? Now you can view selected artifacts and documents online and learn about what has shaped York Region!
You can also find an Archives 10th Anniversary Display at 17250 Yonge Street, Newmarket in The Great Hall. The building is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the exhibit will be available for the remainder of 2025.
The York Region Archives was officially established on September 24, 2015, when York Regional Council adopted the Archives Policy. Since opening its doors, the Archives has remained committed to preserving and sharing York Region’s rich heritage from official government records to the diverse stories and contributions of the community.
The Archives offers:
- Physical and digital artifacts, documents and collections about the Region’s growth and development
- Support for research inquiries from students, historians or any other curious minds
- Appraisals for potential donations, helping preserve meaningful materials for future generations
- Educational resources and community engagement opportunities
- And much more!
