Sealing off the busy pothole season with 14,000+ repairs
This year, Regional roads experienced an unprecedented number of potholes due to severe weather conditions. Our dedicated road crews rose to the challenge, patrolling roads 24/7 and repairing over 14,000 potholes, surpassing last year’s total of 12,500!
While pothole repairs continue year-round as needed, the busiest season is now winding down. Crews are shifting focus to fall maintenance and winter preparation, including:
- Checking and refreshing road signs to maintain visibility
- Street sweeping
- Guiderail and shoulder repairs
- Stockpiling salt and sand at district facilities
- Installing snow fencing for winter readiness
Residents can help keep our roads safe by reporting potholes and other issues using the Report a Problem app or by visiting york.ca/Roads. These reports complement regular patrols and help crews respond more efficiently.
We thank all residents and motorists for their patience and support as we continue working to improve York Region’s roads.
