National Volunteer Week
In recognition of National Volunteer Week, thank you to all the volunteers, including those at our two long-term care homes, Maple and Newmarket Health Centre. Their dedication, compassion and contributions make a profound difference to our long-term care residents, families and staff.
Maple and Newmarket Health Centres are currently recruiting volunteers. As a member of the team, you will be part of a stimulating, challenging and rewarding environment while helping residents maintain an active, independent and high quality of life. Whether you volunteer to learn new skills and gain work experience, or to develop new friendships and have a sense of purpose, volunteering provides many benefits. It has been shown that volunteering can improve your health and mood. The act of giving back to your community brings a sense of fulfillment, while connecting with others fosters a feeling of belonging.
All new volunteers will receive orientation, training, staff support, program choices and flexibility in scheduling. To apply for a volunteer position at our long-care team care homes or for more information, please visit york.ca/LTCVolunteer
Come join our team and help make a difference!
Quote from Rita Leva (Maple Health Centre volunteer)
“Volunteering at Maple Health Centre has been very rewarding and fulfilling for me. I really enjoy spending time with the residents and seeing their beautiful smiles. I love to listen to their stories and their wisdom that they share with me. It’s very satisfying to me that the money we raise at the gift shop is used to enrich the residents’ lives (concerts, choirs etc.) I will continue to volunteer at Maple Health Centre as long as God gives me the strength to do so”.
