Georgina Transfer Station will be temporarily closed for repairs

Waste depot will be closed September 22 to October 10, 2025

The Georgina Transfer Station will be closed Monday, September 22 to Friday, October 10 to repair damage caused by a fire last August. Regular depot hours are expected to resume Saturday, October 11 (subject to change without notice).  

The Georgina Transfer Station is located at 23068 Warden Avenue in the Town of Georgina. During the temporary closure, residents are asked to visit one of York Region’s other waste depots:

East Gwillimbury Household Hazardous Waste and Recycling Depot 
225 Garfield Wright Boulevard, Town of East Gwillimbury

Elgin Mills Community Environmental Centre 
1124 Elgin Mills Road East, City of Richmond Hill

Due to the temporary closure of the Georgina Transfer Station, the East Gwillimbury Household Hazardous Waste and Recycling Depot, in addition to its regular schedule, will open on the following dates from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.:

• Tuesday, September 23
• Tuesday, September 30
• Tuesday, October 7
