Happy Holidays from The Regional Municipality of York
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I am pleased to extend our warmest wishes to all York Region residents during this holiday season.
York Region is one of Canada’s most diverse communities, with residents speaking over 120 languages and representing more than 238 distinct ethnic origins. Our communities are enriched by a variety of faiths and cultural traditions, each adding to the vibrancy of life in our Region.
In December, communities across York Region celebrate a range of holidays. Jewish residents observe Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. Buddhists mark Bodhi Day. Christians celebrate Advent and Christmas. Many residents of African descent celebrate Kwanzaa. Pagans and Wiccans observe Yule and the Winter Solstice. Latin American communities recognize Las Posadas and Zoroastrians remember the prophet Zarathushtra.
Regardless of faith or tradition, this season offers an opportunity to gather with loved ones, to celebrate and to learn from one another. It is a time for reflection, gratitude and the joy of community. Together, we have faced challenges and celebrated triumphs, and it is through this collective strength we continue to build resilient and vibrant communities for all.
Thank you for being an integral part of our community. May the coming year bring prosperity, good health and countless moments of joy.
Happy holidays to you and your loved ones.
