Celebrating our Canadian Pride
As we come together to celebrate Canada Day 2025, it is a moment for all of us to reflect on the strength and unity that make our country truly exceptional. From coast to coast to coast, we share a common bond, one rooted in respect, diversity and the values that shape us as Canadians.
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I encourage everyone to celebrate this special day with pride, joy and a deep sense of gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy. Canada Day is an opportunity to honour our history, our culture and the resilience of all who have contributed to building this great nation.
While we celebrate our national pride, let us also focus on ensuring our holiday is both healthy and safe. Whether you’re enjoying local festivities, spending time with loved ones or supporting local businesses, remember to look out for one another and practice good health habits to ensure a positive and enjoyable day for all.
Canada Day is an excellent opportunity to support our local businesses. By choosing to shop and dine locally, we contribute to the growth and success of our communities and strengthen the economy that supports us all.
It is also important to acknowledge that for some, Canada Day is a day of reflection rather than celebration. For many Indigenous Peoples, this day represents a history of loss, trauma and ongoing challenges. Let us also take time to listen, learn and engage in meaningful dialogue toward healing and reconciliation.
As we gather this Canada Day, let's embrace the spirit of community and connection, celebrate the beauty of our diverse culture and create memories that reflect our collective pride as Canadians.
Wishing everyone a safe, healthy and joyous Canada Day.
