Nobleton Water and Wastewater Servicing Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study

York Region completed an Environmental Assessment Study in 2021 looking at the water and wastewater servicing options in the community of Nobleton in the Township of King.  

Work is happening to implement the servicing solutions identified in the study.

Project Information

The projects listed below were identified through the Environmental Assessment process to support long-term water and wastewater servicing in Nobleton. Together, they will upgrade existing infrastructure, build new systems, improve service delivery, and support future growth.

Nobleton Sewage Pumping Station

York Region is upgrading and rehabilitating the Nobleton Sewage Pumping Station located at 66 Janet Avenue, in the Township of King.  

Completion date: Summer 2028 

Nobleton Water Resource Recovery Facility

York Region is upgrading the Nobleton Water Resource Recovery Facility to efficiently treat more wastewater, supporting community growth and the environment.

Completion date: Fall 2028

Nobleton Water Treatment Plant

York Region is upgrading the well facilities and building a new Nobleton Water Treatment Plant to further enhance Nobleton’s drinking water system.

Completion date: December 2028

Learn about the Environmental Assessment Study

Study Background

In November 2018, The Regional Municipality of York initiated the Schedule C, Nobleton Water and Wastewater Servicing Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study (EA Study). To accommodate future growth in the community, the EA Study looked at long-term water and wastewater servicing options in the Township of King.

During phase one, we hosted an Open House on February 28, 2019, and outlined the purpose and elements of the study. In phase two, we hosted a second online Open House on November 25, 2020, and reviewed the long-term water and wastewater servicing solutions that have been considered. The third online Open House was hosted on July 20, 2021, and the preferred design solutions for water and wastewater servicing and the recommended solutions were presented.  

We completed the fourth phase and filed the Notice of Completion on November 3, 2021. The notice placed the completed Environmental Study Report on public record for a comment period of 32 days from November 4, 2021, to December 6, 2021.

Since the completion of the Class EA, additional updates were recommended by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks and a Notice of Addendum was issued. The Project File Report Addendum was on public record for review and comment from May 30, 2025, to June 30, 2025. The commenting period was extended to July 11, 2025.

Notice of Addendum finalized for the revised Nobleton Water Servicing EA Study

The Nobleton Water Servicing solution has been updated through the Schedule C Municipal Class Environment Assessment for the Nobleton Wells 2 and 5 Upgrades Project - Addendum Report, dated August 13, 2025. The revised and final Addendum Report confirms the selected water servicing strategy for the community of Nobleton along with the completion of various investigative studies and reports to support the recommendation.

Stakeholder comments received on the draft Addendum Report, during the 30-day public review process from May 30, 2025, to July 11, 2025, have been addressed.
