Ten York Region athletes set to compete at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games
Beginning February 6, 2026, Canada’s top winter athletes will compete at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games. Among those proudly representing Team Canada are 10 exceptional athletes from The Regional Municipality of York, competing across a range of winter sports.
York Region’s homegrown Olympians reflect the talent, dedication and diversity of the communities they call home. Their selection to Team Canada is a testament to years of hard work, perseverance and the support of coaches, families and local communities.
Throughout the Games, residents across York Region’s nine cities and towns will cheer on these outstanding athletes as they compete alongside the best in the world in pursuit of Olympic success.
The following York Region athletes will represent Canada at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games:
- Connor McDavid – Men’s Hockey, Town of Newmarket
- Sam Bennett – Men’s Hockey, Town of East Gwillimbury
- Jordan Binnington – Men’s Hockey, City of Richmond Hill
- Mitch Marner – Men’s Hockey, City of Vaughan
- Laura Stacey – Women’s Hockey, Township of King
- Erin Ambrose – Women’s Hockey, Town of Georgina
- Paul Poirier – Figure Skating (Ice Dance), City of Markham
- Meghan Oldham – Freestyle Skiing, Town of Newmarket
- Luka Stoikos – Bobsleigh, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville
- Mark Zanette – Bobsleigh, City of Vaughan
