How do you handle the heat?
Seniors and people who care for aging relatives or friends: we want to hear from you!
Although this summer is coming to an end, York Region is already planning for the summers ahead. As extreme heat becomes a more common part of our summers, it is important to understand how it affects those who may be at greater risk, including seniors.
That’s why York Region, with funding from Health Canada, is working to better understand how extreme heat impacts seniors in York Region, and steps they and their caregivers take to stay safe when the weather gets hot.
If you are a senior or help care for a senior, complete an online survey to tell us your experiences, attitudes and how you have handled extreme heat in the summer. Everyone who completes the survey can enter a draw to win one of four gift cards!
Who can participate?
- Seniors (55+) living in York Region (not currently living in an assisted living facility, such as long-term care)
- York Region residents (18+) who care for aging relatives or friends living in York Region
- Able to communicate in English
What we learn from this survey will contribute to Public Health providing better help and support to seniors in our community dealing with the effects of extreme heat. The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete and all answers will remain anonymous and confidential.
