Understanding the Health of Seniors in York Region: New Insights from the Population Health Assessment Dashboard
July 30, 2026
York Region has released “Understanding the Health of Seniors in York Region: Healthy Aging in Our Community,” a new report that highlights key trends affecting the health and well-being of residents aged 65 and older. The report provides evidence to support planning across programs, services and age friendly community initiatives.
Key findings show that falls and chronic diseases continue to drive the greatest health burden for older adults, climate-related risks from extreme heat and vector-borne diseases are a concern, oral health needs persist and social factors shape health. This release coincides with an update to the Population Health Assessment Dashboard, which provides interactive access to over 50 indicators across eight health topics, including Chronic Disease, Oral Health and Injuries, Health Behaviours, Mental Health and Substance Use, and Social and Demographic Information.
