Notice of Field Studies in City of Richmond Hill
York Region is expanding the York Durham Sewage System across the Towns of East Gwillimbury, Newmarket, Aurora, Ajax and the Cities of Richmond Hill, Markham and Pickering in accordance with the Supporting Growth and Housing in York and Durham Regions Act, 2022. This work includes new or expanding wastewater sewers, pumping stations and enhancements to the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant.
Duration: September 2024 to spring 2026
Description
- Conducting a variety of site and fileld studies in the Towns of East Gwillimbury, Newmarket, Aurora and Richmond Hill
- GHD Limited has been retained to provide engineering consultant services and conduct the site and field studies, including;
- Topographic surveying
- Utility surveys
- Natural environment review
- Cultural heritage and archaeology investigations
- Geotechnical borehole drilling and installing groundwater monitoring wells

Impacts
- There are no planned impacts to water or wastewater services
- Field study crews will be at various sites taking photos, reviewing infrastructure and natural features
- Advance notice will be provided if crews need access to any properties
- Drill rigs may be required to conduct geotechnical borehole drilling; any ground disturbances will be restored to the original condition
- Traffic protection zones may be temporarily installed; every effort to minimize any disruption will be made
As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other conditions. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
