King Road and Keele Street Improvements
King Road and Keele Street | Township of King
Construction start: Late Summer 2024
Anticipated completion: Winter 2026

York Region is rehabilitating bridges and improving King Road and Keele Street
King Road:
Rehabilitation of the north section of the bridge west of Keele Street is complete and 2025 construction will include:
- Rehabilitating the centre section of the bridge, expected completion August 2025
- Rehabilitating the south section of the bridge, expected completion November 2025
Keele Street:
Northbound left turn lanes at King Road and a new pedestrian signal south of King Road have been installed on Keele Street as well as new parking restrictions applied. Future construction includes:
- Rehabilitating the bridge north of King Road from November 2025 to December 2026
- Further improvements to the Keele Street and King Road intersection in 2026

Impacts to travellers
- King Road will remain reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of construction; however, traffic lanes will shift in August 2025 as crews complete work on different sections of the bridge
- The sidewalk on the south side of King Road will be closed from August to November 2025. The north side will remain open to pedestrians
- Trucks are not permitted to turn left or right onto King Road from Keele Street or left onto Keele Street when travelling eastbound on King Road for the duration of construction
- There are no turning restrictions for passenger vehicles
Project timeline
King Road bridge work is expected to be complete in November 2025. Construction on the Keele Street bridge is expected to commence in November 2025 and be complete by the end of 2026.
As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible. We understand construction causes inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
