Chat Functionality
York Region offers a live chat function (“eChat”) on certain public-facing webpages on york.ca and yrt.ca. Please carefully read the following terms of use before accessing or using eChat on either york.ca or yrt.ca. By accessing or using eChat on york.ca or yrt.ca, you acknowledge having read, understood, and accepted the following terms. If you do not agree with any of these terms, do not use eChat on york.ca or yrt.ca. eChat is not monitored for emergency situations. If this is an emergency, please contact 911.
By using eChat, you agree to share your chat history, including any personal information such as your name and email address, with York Region for the purpose of providing you with information and assistance. You also agree not to use eChat for any prohibited or unlawful purposes, such as soliciting, harassing, or defaming York Region, its staff, or other users.
The disclaimer of warranties and disclaimer of liabilities, as described in the sections above apply, with the necessary modifications, to the use of eChat. For clarity, York Region disclaims, to the fullest extent permitted by law, of all representations and warranties of any kind, express or implied, relating to eChat including without limitation representations or warranties of title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. eChat is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

Copies of eChat transcripts cannot be provided by York Region after the eChat session is terminated. If you would like to keep a copy of your eChat session, you must make a copy yourself.
York Region’s Public Health eChat
York Region’s Public Health team uses eChat to offer eChat services (“Public Health eChat Services”) to York Region residents. These Public Health eChat Services allow York Region residents to chat on-line with a registered nurse from York Region’s Public Health team about their pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, and post-partum health including their mental health and wellness; the health and wellbeing of their baby or young child; parenting; breastfeeding; or their child’s growth and development.
The following terms apply to your use of the York Region Public Health eChat Services and supplement the above general terms on the use of eChat more generally on york.ca. If you do not agree with any of these terms, do not use the York Region Public Health eChat Services.
If this is an emergency, please contact 911. The nurses on this eChat can offer recommendations to support you and your family, however, they do not diagnose illnesses or provide medical advice. You may call or may be referred to Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 for non-emergency medical advice.
If you choose to provide York Region with personal and/or personal health information, you are consenting to such information being collected and used by York Region’s Public Health team to respond to your inquiries, provide you with information, and/or assure quality service. York Region’s Public Health team is governed by privacy legislation. York Region’s Information Practices Statement.
