York Region seeking applications for Agriculture and Agri-Food Advisory Committee
York Region is seeking applications from individuals with knowledge, experience and a passion for the agriculture and agri-food sector to serve on its Agriculture and Agri-Food Advisory Committee (AAAC) for the 2027 to 2030 term.
The York Region AAAC provides advice to Regional Council and staff on agriculture, agri-food and rural business matters, helping ensure the sector's voice is heard in Regional decision-making.
Agriculture and Agri-Food in York Region
York Region’s agriculture and agri-food sector contributes $3.8 billion to the local economy and supports 67,000 jobs. With 5,000 businesses, including 600 farms and more than 300 food and beverage manufacturers, York Region is one of Canada’s leading food and beverage processing regions.
Through York Region's Agriculture and Agri-Food Strategy, initiatives supported by the sector have helped local food and beverage businesses grow, generating more than $900,000 in revenue while expanding access to new markets and customers.
Who should apply?
York Region is recruiting seven members of the community and industry groups including:
- Agricultural businesses, organizations and associations in York Region
- Agri-food value chain businesses, including input suppliers, food processors, distributors, food service providers and retailers
- Citizens-at-large with demonstrated knowledge, experience or interest in the agriculture and agri-food sector
