York Region Paramedic Services Delivers Holiday Cheer to Local Hospitals
December 24, 2024
This holiday season, York Region Paramedic Services’ Nanny Blanket Drive delivered joy and comfort to those in need during the holiday season.
The initiative delivers warm, cozy blankets, tied with a bow, to elderly hospital patients on Christmas Eve. This year, teddy bears were donated and handed out to pediatric patients as well.
The Nanny Blanket Drive was established in 2008 by paramedic Helen Galanis. This year, the reigns were passed to paramedic Emily McGroarty who helped organize staff donations of new blankets as well as financial contributions to support the purchase of additional ones. Some were even caringly handmade by paramedics, their family and friends!
