Court Summons
A summons is an order to appear in front of a Justice of the Peace for a serious offence. You or someone on your behalf must attend the court hearing at the time and place shown on the summons. If you do not appear for your hearing, it is your responsibility to find out from the court office the outcome of the hearing, including whether a trial date was set and for which courtroom, time and date.
The Judge can issue a warrant for your arrest for “failing to appear” in court and your trial and sentencing can proceed without you.
