York Region celebrates personal support workers
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I am proud to recognize May 19, 2025, as Personal Support Worker (PSW) Day.
Today, we honour the hard-working, compassionate PSWs who provide vital services across our Region. Whether in long-term care facilities, community clinics or in the homes of residents, PSWs are on the front lines of health care. Their contributions often go unrecognized, yet their work is indispensable in ensuring vulnerable residents receive the care, dignity and respect they deserve.
Here in York Region, our PSWs make an enormous impact, not only providing essential care but also building strong, trusting relationships with the people they serve. These professionals bring comfort and security to countless families, helping to navigate the challenges of aging, illness and recovery. They are the unsung heroes whose dedication improves quality of life for our residents every day.
We also acknowledge the incredible PSWs working within York Region’s own services. Your commitment to creating a safer, healthier community is deeply appreciated. You work tirelessly and with immense compassion to support both our most vulnerable populations and our front-line health care systems.
As we celebrate PSW Day, we express our profound gratitude to all Personal Support Workers. Your efforts, care and dedication make a meaningful difference in the lives of many across York Region and we are thankful for everything you do.
